Nabedaira Plateau Nature Trail

A 2.3km long nature trail located in the Nabedaira Plateau.
We recommend taking a relaxing stroll through the forest to refresh yourself.

1 Depart from Shirakabadai Station

Climb the road between Shirakabadaira Station and Nabehira Kogen Station.

2 Nature trail entrance

After climbing for a while, you will see the entrance to the nature trail on your left.

3 Beware of bears

The area near the nature trails is a bear habitat, so please be sure to ring the bells provided.

4 Yarigatake

As soon as you enter the nature trail, you will see Mount Yari on your right. Its beautiful, sharp peak has earned it the nickname "Japan's Matterhorn."

5 way down

Walk down the nature trail.

6 view point

After a while, you will arrive directly underneath the No. 1 Ropeway, so wave as the gondola passes by! From here, you can get a beautiful view of Mt. Kasagatake.

7 shortcut

Along the way, there is a shortcut to Shirakabadaira Station (former visitor center).

8 Yakedake

If you go further, the nature trail turns right, from where you can see Mount Yakedake, an active volcano.

9 arrival

If you go along the road next to the parking lot, you will see Shirakabadaira Station.

The sound of my own footsteps and breathing on the snow in the silence. You can experience the spectacular scenery and playing in the snow on this magical snowy mountain. It will also be possible to take a walk in the forest, which is normally not accessible. You may be able to see the footprints of many animals in the great nature of Shinhotaka. It is also recommended for those who are not confident in their physical strength or those who lack exercise on a daily basis.

    The price is the same for Adults and Children (Upper Elementary School age and older).

    Includes: Outerwear, shoes, a full set of snowshoes and poles (gloves are also available for rental).

    No Outerwear Plan (Wear Excluded) This is recommended for those who want to experience snowshoeing at a slightly lower cost! This plan allows you to rent everything except the outerwear.

    ¥5,500 (Tax Included)

    The price is the same for Adults and Children (Upper Elementary School age and older).

    Includes: Rental shoes, a full set of snowshoes and poles.

    No Rental Plan (Bring Your Own Gear) This plan is for those who already have their own equipment and only require a guide!

    No reservation required! This plan accepts same-day registration. This is for you if you’re thinking, “I’m a bit hesitant about going on a full tour,” or “I just want to try playing in the snow while wearing snowshoes.” After a simple lecture on how to use snowshoes, you will have 1 hour of free time in the designated snow play area.
